World Records Symposium

April 14, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - April 15, 2016 @ 5:45 pm

The 2016 edition of the Mayrent Institute for Yiddish Culture’s World Records symposium brings together librarians, collectors, copyright lawyers, record label owners, folklorists, musicologists, students, and lay people to discuss the contemporary concerns of sound archives. The keynote speaker will be Gene DeAnna, Head of the Recorded Sound Section (Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division) at the Library of Congress and whose National Jukebox website has changed how the public accesses historic recordings. All of the speakers and the panels are listed on the complete schedule. The panels will take place in Memorial Library, but there will be an evening concert at 7:30pm on April 14 at the University Club.
